Trip to New York!!

Okay... I am so behind on my blogging! So, I'm going to put things out of order. I'm going to start with the latest news and eventually get to Halloween and Landon's SUPER cute turtle costume...

Okay! So here's Landon and my trip to New York (in a nutshell):
Tuesday (Nov. 4th) - I experienced major anxiety of traveling on planes all the next day... worried about the layover and extreme excitement to see my friend and experience New York!!
Wednesday (5th) - Tyler drove Landon and I to the airport and waited for us to get on the plane. Everything we smoothly. As soon as we got off the plane we had to run to the next plane. I had so much help lugging around my stuff (a carry-on suitcase, big diaper bag, and Landon in his carrier.) Landon was super good on the plane, only a few outbursts! :) Melissa was there to pick us up as soon as we got off the plane. After stopping by Wendy's for a quick sandwich we headed to her place and had a fun evening chatting!
Thursday (6th) - We relaxed and adjusted to the time difference. We went shopping at an interesting grocery story where you have to rent your grocery cart for a quarter, buy your own grocery bags and the cashiers just sit in chairs and throw your groceries into the cart. After you pay for your groceries you pull up to a big metal table and bag your own groceries. It was super strange, but way fun to experience. When we were leaving a little buggie full of Amish folks pulled up and parked. I couldn't help but stare. I am so intrigued by their lifestyle, I'd love to just sit and talk to them - see how they spend their days!
Friday (7th) - This was such a fun day. We went to Palmyra to see the church history sites. We started at the Hill Commorah. It was beautiful!! There was a cool statue covered in ladybugs. Then we took a little tour of the visitor's center, drove by the Palmyra Temple, and saw the replica of Joseph Smith's house and the restored Alvin's house. It was amazing! After touring the homes we walked through the Sacred Grove. It was an amazing experience. It was easy to feel the spirit as we walked and appreciated the beauty we were surrounded by. The ground was covered with the fallen leaves. Landon really enjoyed himself (even though it was pretty chilly). He loved to watch the leaves falling. He looked so cute and never really stopped smiling! Maybe he felt close to the Spirit too, after all he's pretty close with him I'm sure.
Saturday (8th) - I was sick this day... what a bummer! I'm still not sure what I had... the flu, a migraine, a mixture of staying up late and not eating very well the day before...? Any are possible! Anyway... Melissa totally took care of me and watched Landon for me. Thank you Melissa!! Anyway, by evening time I threw up and felt much better.
Sunday (9th) - I felt a lot better so I went to stake conference with the Steinbrechers. I was amazed at how well behaved all the kids were, including Landon. He sat and smiled through most of the meeting but eventually got tired and grouchy and we roamed the halls. By this day the weather had gone from mid-60s to 30s BRRRR!!! We were so cold!

Monday (10th) - Hmm... what did we do on Monday? Oh yes!! Monday was FREEZING! We decided to go see Lake Ontario since Melissa's daughters were home from school. It was so funny. We got there and by the time that we got Landon zipped up in my jacket we had to turn around because it started snowing!! Needless to say we ran back into the car and went home to be warm. We also went shopping at the dollar store. That was fun! We spent the day cooped up trying to stay warm. Eventually we went outside and tried to sleigh down a small hill, no success.
Tuesday (11th) - We spent the day at Melissa's new friend Crista's house making jewelery and talking. Time seemed to fly by because by the time we were done it was late afternoon. Melissa took me to eat some great Chinese food that night! Yummy! It was so fresh!
Wednesday (12th) - Time to go home! How bittersweet -- by this time I missed Tyler SOOO much, but I was so sad to leave my good friend. We went to the airport and finally got through security. Our first flight was awesome! For the first time I got to walk out onto the pavement and walk up the steps into the plane, just like some famous person, but less glorious and glamorous. The flight was pretty empty to I got to keep Landon in his car seat on the short flight. We ended up getting to Detroit (our layover) a bit early so I took off to the next flight all the way on the other side of the airport. I had to run to my next flight (again with all my gear). My arm is bruised from carrying Landon in his car seat, OUCH! Thank goodness the flight was a bit late or else we would have missed it! Okay, now for the scoop...... This last flight was packed. I sat by two awesome women who loved Landon and were so nice. They loved to hold him and squish his cheeks. The flight seemed to experience a little turbulence the entire time so we all had to stay in our seats. About 2 hours in, right after all the stewardesses put away all the drinks and snacks, the plane hit serious turbulence. The plane began to be thrashed around, laterally. Thank goodness people had complied to the seat belt sign because we were on a roller coaster. It was probably the scariest thing that ever happened to me! Everyone was bumped around in their seats and were bouncing up and down. It is amazing what goes through one's head when they think that they are going to die, or at least in my head when I taught I was going to die. I worried that Tyler wouldn't be able to see his little boy grow up. There was no life flashing before my eyes or anything. I just felt love for my husband and trust in the Lord's decision. The gospel is such a comfort in times of distress. I was grateful. After we landed it was obvious that I was not the only one thinking that it was the end. We were all so grateful to be alive and safely on the ground. I leached onto Tyler and enjoyed being back in his arms.

Going to New York was so fun, but I think it will be a LONG time before I decide to take such a big trip without my husband!! :) However, I did get a chance to learn more about myself and Tyler!! :)

Time with Grandpa

Tyler's dad came into town on business but stopped by to visit! I don't know why, but every time he comes Landon will not smile, the little stinker! This time grandpa came while Landon was sleeping. My plan was to have a nice well rested boy to see his grandpa but he just kept sleeping and sleeping so we helped him wake up. Perhaps that was not the best idea we ever had. At least there was no screaming, there was just no smiles. Bummer.
Look at those big cheeks!
As you can see, Joe was thoroughly jealous of the attention everyone was showing to Landon. I love this look of sadness and disgust as poor little Joey is outcast.
Tyler- just loving being a dad! Every now and then Tyler just asks to take Landon for the day! i love this - I am able to go to work and spend more time playing with my cousins and Tyler is able to get in some good 1 on 1 time with Landon. I can only imagine how much fun they have! Tyler loves to play with Landon, and it seems to be mutual.
I guess this baby loving trait is in the Huish bloodline! When we went up to Snowflake last weekend everyone loved to play with Landon! I'm so glad! I'm sure he loved all the attention and love. Tyler has a great family and I'm so glad to be part of it!

Blayze and Landon

Here's my nephew Blayze!! My little sis, Bren, and I got to watch our two nephews, Titan and Blayze a couple weeks ago. So, of course Brenley feeds the youngest an Oreo. Hello! That was a mess! How cute though? Huh? I have got the two cutest nephews ever! I'm bummed I didn't get a picture of Titan! Holli's boys are so fun!

Here's Landon watching something on the TV - probably Baby Einstein! What a goofy kid! He's already a TV addict. Perhaps I'm a terrible mother, but I've got to get ready for the day somehow!! I love how is into sitting up these days. Although, its a little tough when he wants to sit up while he's strapped into his car seat and I'm driving down the road! He has his wonderful ways of letting me know that he's not happy with the restrictions!
Landon is quite the little drooler. I'm scared with all this drooling and chewing we're going to be seeing some baby teeth soon. Yikes. I'm not ready to be bitten! I guess at least I'm not longer nursing (thanks to Landon's many allergies).

Little Landino

Little quirks about Landon:
*He has to sleep on his side... in the shape of a backwards "C" (see picture for visual)
*He loves to get his diaper changed - probably because it involves the removal of clothing, and he really loves to be naked.
*He likes to lean to the right side every time he sits in his little rocker. We are constantly sitting him back straight and slightly to the left but he always finds a way to lean.
*He chews on his tongue and reminds me of a cow chewing the cud. Actually, he'll chew on anything he can get near his mouth!
*His armpits sweat!! Is that normal? It's not like I dress him in long sleeves and sweats! What's the deal?
*He rubs his eyes with his little fists when he gets tired! I love this! Its sooo cute.

This was so funny. I wish I would have captured it on camera a little sooner... Tyler was holding Landon and talking with our friend Jay and Landon fell asleep in Tyler's arms while he was sitting up! As soon as I got the camera, of course, Landon woke up.
Here's a random shot of Landon... just hanging out!!

Family Update

This is Landon's little toy that I keep writing about! We are so excited that he's starting to play and interact! We are going to start practicing rolling over this week! :) Woo hoo!!

So... here's a little update on the rest of the family...

Tyler is busy with school. He's taking 16 credits

at ASU this semester. Phew! Business school seems intense! He is currently sitting on the couch studying for tomorrow's test. I love his drive!! He is a great example of hard work! He has an amazing talent to get the job done, even if he really, REALLY doesn't want to do it! Right now he's not particularly enjoying school. I think that as he gets the basics of marketing down he will start to enjoy it a whole lot more. He always says that his problem is that he would like to do too many different things. He has so many interests and he is pretty much great at everything he tries! This has really started to frustrate him because he would like to try everything but know that he needs to choose something! :) I just look at him and smile to myself! He's a great guy and I know that whatever he does he will do well! I just want him to be happy!

I spend my weekdays at my aunt's house. I'm pretty certain that I have the greatest job ever. I do respite and habilitation with my cousins! I love hanging out with my aunt and being in their home. I am taking my last nursing pre-requisite online from GCC, and am waiting to hear from ASU as to whether or not I've been accepted into the Spring 09 nursing school. I'm excited!! I am ready to go through school. I've wanted to be a nurse for so long! Plus, the sooner I get done the sooner I'll be able to work a little and spend more time with my little family!

Joe is anxious to repopulate the earth with little boxers... we'll leave it at that.... He loves the dog park, and he's a great swimmer (funny looking, but great). He loves to run around our new "grass." - We just moved into a larger home on campus so we have a new grass patch outside our back door. He also enjoys licking Landon and sticking his toys on people's laps.

Wise Guys

Here's some pictures of Landon hanging out with some great guys! There's a shot of Landon with his Grandpa Huish. We always enjoy seeing Tyler's dad on his quick work trips to the valley! And of course... Landon always enjoys his special time with his dad! Landon is always at work with me so he doesn't get to see Tyler a lot during the week.

The Nine Week Update

I'm trying to get caught up here.... so even though Landon is 12 weeks old, here are some 9 week pictures! We were lucky to get some smiling shots because Landon will stop smiling and giggling as soon as he sees the camera... Joe on the other hand comes running to get in the picture! What a goof ball. So, the very top picture is after we went to the doctor for the ear infection... they told us to let him sleep in his carrier. The rest are just fun shots of us hanging out at home! Good times! I love my little guy!

Conference

I love General Conference!! This weekend was so wonderful! First of all, Landon has been sleeping through the night so I was well rested!! Saturday was so fun just staying home and hanging out with my boys! I really enjoyed watching conference. The talks were great! I really enjoyed talking with Tyler about the traits we admire in the leaders of our church! I also found exercises that Landon and I can do together and he loves them! Tyler and I were able to spend time studying for his upcoming marketing test. I love helping Tyler study, its nice to know that he needs and appreciates me plus I get to learn a little about things that Tyler is interested in! I love that Tyler gets so distracted by Landon! Its so cute to see Tyler at the table "studying" as he talks and smiles at Landon in his swing on the other side of the room. They are such great buddies!
Today we watched conference with some of our great friends, the Pitneys. They are so much fun! I was also able to get my cross-stitch pretty much completed. Ever since we had a mutual on how to cross-stitch I've been addicted! Since conference we have been home playing. Today Landon started to open-handedly (is that a word??) reach at his little infant gym thing. I'm so excited that he's figuring things out. He is such a blessing in our lives! We can't get enough of his smiles and giggles.
Honestly, its been a pretty hard 2 1/2 months. We could never figure out why Landon was always upset. So, here's Landon's medical history breakdown: He was born with a high level of jaundice and was on the billi-blanket for about 2 weeks. Shortly after Landon got an ear infection, poor little guy. Tyler got ear infections when he was little so I guess we will have to keep a close eye on him. At the same time he developed some kind of cold or allergies. When he started to throw up his meals we knew something else must be wrong. We took him in thinking that he had reflux, which he did have, and the doctor told me to try going off of dairy. So, I did that until the day that we moved... I accidentally had a piece of cheese on my sub sandwich!! Ahh... that was the day we discovered Landon was allergic to milk, poor little guy. Since then... he has been on medicine and we've started ailamentum (a super expensive formula for babies with allergies). Now, Landon smiles and plays! We love it! We have so much to be thankful for!

Landon at 8 weeks

Here's Tyler and Landon at 8 weeks. He was really starting to fill out! In the top picture Tyler was hanging out with Landon during "tummy time." The bottom picture is Landon taking a nap on ole mom and dad's bed. For some reason he sleeps really well on OUR bed! :) Wow, that pacifier looks really big, now it looks so small. In fact we need to get him some new ones! I'm so surprised at how fast he is growing! This week I pulled out the 3-6 month clothes and got them washed! It was so fun to put new little outfits on him! I think he's been more comfortable because they're not skin tight! He doesn't look so fat! Yea!!
I'm so grateful that he's doing so good. He's been so much fun! 8 weeks was about the time he started to smile and now he smiles even more! I love spending time with him, and I love being a mom!
